The Marc Sabatella Quartet is the regular working group of award-winning Colorado-based pianist Marc Sabatella. The Quartet primarily performs Sabatella's original compositions, which range tend to be more complex than typical quartet fare while also featuring surprisingly catchy tunes and grooves. Their music has proven to have an unusually wide appeal both within the jazz world and beyond. Sabatella is influenced by the groups such as the Keith Jarrett Quartet, the George Adams / Don Pullen Quartet,, and various small groups led by Charles Mingus, Dave Holland, and others.

Sabatella has been developing this body of music since the 1980's, and it has been performed by many musicians through the years. The current personnel features Danny Meyer on saxophone, Patrick McDevitt on bass, and Alejandro Castaño on drums. This particular version of the quartet has not recorded except for a live recording made at Dazzle in Denver, but as I think you will agree as you listen to these tracks, it is an amazingly talented and exciting group!
